April 16-22, sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States. This important week-long awareness campaign is the HSUS's opportunity to educate the public on the connection between cruelty to animals and humane violence. Get all the details at www.hsus.org.

2. American's Family Pet Expo

10am-6pm Friday, April 21; 10am-7pm Saturday, April 22; and 10am-6pm Sunday, April 23 at the Orange Country Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, Calif.
