Tip 4 - HEALTH

Choosing A Vet

When you visit a veterinary clinic, you should be hit with a warm and friendly feeling as soon as you walk in the door. Not every building can be new and modern, but any facility should be clean and not smell like animals. Observe the staff. If their love for animals isn't obvious and immediate, head for the door. When I'm on the floor in my practice and I'm getting clobbered by kisses and slobber and someone says to me, "I've never seen a veterinarian do that," it worries me. We are here because we love animals. A veterinarian shouldn't hesitate to play and bond with your pets. I know the more an animal trusts me, the more I can do to help them.

Look for animals running in the door with tails wagging-they're excited to see their "doc"! Remember, your veterinarian should be like a member of your family-one who loves your pet as much as you do.
