Indulge Your Best Friend

You don’t have to look very far to see that consumer spending on dog-related products has gone threw the roof in recent years. Doggie daycares, puppy spas and specialty boutiques are appearing almost as rapidly as Starbuck’s franchises. This makes it easy for dog owners to spoil their favorite canines — especially when it comes to the dog’s birthday or some other special occasion.  Here are a few ideas for your precious pooch.
• A spa day: Even if you usually groom at home, this will a) give you a break and b) leave your dog smelling as fresh as can be, with no bathtub to clean. And, since doggie spa employees are specially trained in the art of grooming, your dog is bound to have a pleasant experience.
• An afternoon at day care: Most dogs go nuts when they learn their owner just pulled up in front of a doggie daycare — it means they get an afternoon of unbridled playtime with other dogs. Some dogs go regularly, but if yours stays home most of the time, this is a treat.

• Baked goods: Yep, it’s true  —  you can get your dog its very own birthday cake (made of dog-friendly ingredients like carob and yogurt). Just enter “dog bakery” into your favorite search engine, and surf around till you find one that delivers to your area.
