Question 3
What can I do if I suspect a pet is suffering from
abuse or neglect?
First, gather as much information as possible about
the dog and its situation. Next, file a report with
the local animal control agency (in some cities, this
is handled by the sheriff's office). If you don't see
an improvement, contact the Humane Society of the United
States or the American Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals for assistance or advice. Finally,
don't give up -sometimes, it takes several calls to
get the attention of the authorities.
